Tom was\u00a0violently punched\u00a0in the eye\u00a0after being yelled at and\u00a0spat in the face.\u00a0The couple filed a\u00a0complaint\u00a0to\u00a0the police. Tom\u00a0and Andy were in a STIB bus\u00a0this Saturday afternoon around 2:00 p.m.\u00a0in Ixelles. A few stops after they got on the bus, they saw a man in his forties and his son of about ten\u00a0years old\u00a0sitting across from them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cAfter a while the man started to get\u00a0nervous\u00a0and angry,\u201d Tom told\u00a0Bruzz, BX1, Het\u00a0Nieuwsblad and  Het\u00a0Laatste\u00a0Nieuws. Tom confirms that during the ride he and Andy showed signs of affection: &#8220;He leaned on me and we kissed every now and then.&#8221; According to the young couple, this is what would have sparked the wrath of the father: \u201cThe man kept glaring at us and started mumbling. Then he got verbally aggressive and said things like &#8216;motherfucker&#8217;, \u201dsays Tom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Tom and Andy tried to get off the bus at the&nbsp;Flagey&nbsp;stop, the man stood up to physically assault them, according to their testimony. \u201cHe got up, spat in my face, started screaming and punched me in the eye. Tom, for his part, does not want to give in: \u201cI do not want this aggression to change my behavior. Otherwise we give in to the homophobes who try to put us down. But maybe I&#8217;ll think twice in the future. &#8221;\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We effectively shouldn\u2019t have to adapt our\u00a0behaviors to those kind of events. We are experiencing a rise in\u00a0lgbtphobic\u00a0acts in Europe the last years and especially this year.\u00a0Lgbtphobia\u00a0is still a real issue in Belgium in 2021 and needs to be dealt with. We remember the murders of\u00a0Ihsane\u00a0Jarfi, David Polfliet\u00a0and more recently Nathalie Maillet, head of the Spa\u00a0Francorchamps\u00a0race circuit and\u00a0Ann Lawrence\u00a0Durviaux\u00a0in\u00a0Gouvy.\u00a0An action against femicides, lesbophobia and biphobia organized by several Belgian LGBTQIA+ and feminist organizations brought together more than a hundred people this Tuesday, August 24 on the Place de la Monnaie. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ann-nathalie.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-41560\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ann-nathalie.jpg 700w, https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/08\/ann-nathalie-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">&#8220;The recent double femicide is a serious fact that has raised many questions, particularly in the use of the terms &#8216;crime of passion&#8217; and &#8216;family drama&#8217; by the media, which water down the facts, but also because the\u00a0lesbophobic\u00a0or\u00a0biphobic\u00a0dimension of this act is hardly ever mentioned in the media. We must place this violence in its societal dimension&#8221; explained Ghyslaine El Moutaani co-president of <a href=\"http:\/\/rainbowhouse.be\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rainbowhouse<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because LGBTphobia is not only homophobia but also, lesbophobia, biphobia and transphobia, let\u2019s continue together as a
