In the heart of Saint-Josse, Brussels, a unique project is quietly making a big difference for some of the city\u2019s most vulnerable residents. daryacu, which means \u201cour house,\u201d is more than just a shelter\u2014it\u2019s a collective home and solidarity space for people facing economic, social, and structural discrimination, including migrants without papers, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those experiencing homelessness.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Home Built on Solidarity<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Located at 134 Rue de Liedekerke, daryacu is committed to creating the safest possible environment for people exploited or marginalized by society\u2019s many forms of domination\u2014be they economic, racial, patriarchal, or heteronormative. The project\u2019s vision is simple yet ambitious: a world where a house is synonymous with solidarity, shared living, and mutual respect, free from artificial borders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What Does daryacu Offer?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Shared Accommodation:<\/strong>
daryacu operates a co-living space with seven rooms, including two collective rooms (one for women, one for men) and other rooms for people from diverse and precarious backgrounds. Rent is adjusted according to each resident\u2019s means, ensuring that those most in need can access safe housing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Day Center:<\/strong>
The project also runs a day center, offering a welcoming place for undocumented migrants and other vulnerable people to rest, get information on their rights, find out where to get a meal or take a shower, and use the internet to contact loved ones. The center is a vital social hub, fostering connections between different communities and providing a rare sense of normalcy and dignity for people in transit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
