Chappell Roan, born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz<\/a> on February 19, 1998, is an artist whose rise from the Midwest of the United States to becoming a queer icon resonates deeply with fans around the world. Rooted in a conservative Christian upbringing where she began playing piano and singing in church, Chappell embraced music as a path to self-expression and liberation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her debut as Chappell Roan\u2014a stage name honoring her grandfather\u2014came in 2017 with the EP School Nights<\/em>, though her early record label had little faith in her potential. Over time, Roan transformed into an emancipatory figure, openly sharing her queer journey and using her music as a celebration of freedom and self-acceptance. She says her life changed after visiting a gay club for the first time at 21, an experience that deeply informed her art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
