Run by the volunteer\u2011powered collective\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pinkscreens.org\/fr\/a-propos\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Genres d\u2019\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9<\/a>, this unapologetically alternative festival turns the big screen into a space to explore non\u2011normative sexualities and genders \u2013 and to joyfully dismantle the usual binaries along the way.<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/diplomatie.belgium.be\/fr\/actualites\/visite-detat-en-norvege-la-belgique-et-la-norvege-des-partenaires-fiables-pour-un-avenir-plus-sur-et-plus-durable\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Queer cinema as a monthly ritual<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the heart of Genres d\u2019\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9\u2019s work is a long\u2011running cine\u2011club, hosted every first Thursday of the month at&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cinema-aventure.be\/\">Cin\u00e9ma Aventure<\/a>, in the Galerie du Centre in downtown Brussels. The idea is simple and radical at the same time: fill a commercial cinema with \u201cdr\u00f4les de genres\u201d \u2013 gay, lesbian, queer, trans, feminist \u2013 and use film as a tool to explore minoritised sexualities and ways of living.<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/diplomatie.belgium.be\/fr\/actualites\/visite-detat-en-norvege-la-belgique-et-la-norvege-des-partenaires-fiables-pour-un-avenir-plus-sur-et-plus-durable\"><\/a>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Instead of re\u2011playing the same classics, the team focuses on very recent titles, often unreleased or barely shown in Belgium, with a taste for surprise, risk\u2011taking and formal experimentation. Screenings sometimes travel beyond Aventure through decentralised events, carrying the Pink Screens energy into other venues and neighbourhoods.<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/diplomatie.belgium.be\/fr\/actualites\/visite-detat-en-norvege-la-belgique-et-la-norvege-des-partenaires-fiables-pour-un-avenir-plus-sur-et-plus-durable\"><\/a>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Ten days of Pink Screens every year<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One film a month wasn\u2019t enough, so Genres d\u2019\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 launched the&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pinkscreens.org\/\">Pink Screens Film Festival<\/a>: ten days each year of full\u2011on queer cinema, exhibitions and parties, including the now\u2011legendary closing&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pinkscreens.org\/\">Pink Night<\/a>. Each edition takes over the iconic alternative venue&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nova-cinema.org\/\">Cin\u00e9ma Nova<\/a>, which literally dresses up in festival colours and offers the technical freedom needed for an anything\u2011goes programme, from micro\u2011budget shorts to wild experimental formats.<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/diplomatie.belgium.be\/fr\/actualites\/visite-detat-en-norvege-la-belgique-et-la-norvege-des-partenaires-fiables-pour-un-avenir-plus-sur-et-plus-durable\"><\/a>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Pink Screens is all about cracking open binaries: woman\/man, masculine\/feminine, straight\/queer, \u201cgouines\/p\u00e9d\u00e9s\u201d, trans\/cis. Across shorts and features, fiction, documentary and experimental works from Belgium and beyond, the festival deliberately mixes high production values with disorienting, cheeky, low\u2011budget gems that refuse to play nice with dominant narratives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1002\" height=\"349\" src=\"https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Capture-decran-2026-03-26-131605.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-51859\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Capture-decran-2026-03-26-131605.jpg 1002w, https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Capture-decran-2026-03-26-131605-300x104.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Capture-decran-2026-03-26-131605-768x267.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1002px) 100vw, 1002px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>More than a festival: debates, bars and \u201cgueulantes\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Genres d\u2019\u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 doesn\u2019t disappear between festival editions. Throughout the year, the collective extends conversations sparked by films through \u201cgueulantes\u201d \u2013 open, horizontal caf\u00e9\u2011debates where the floor belongs to the public. A facilitator simply gets things started; then it\u2019s the room, with all its moods, bad faith, tenderness and identities, that shapes the discussion, under a basic rule: respect and good vibes.<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/diplomatie.belgium.be\/fr\/actualites\/visite-detat-en-norvege-la-belgique-et-la-norvege-des-partenaires-fiables-pour-un-avenir-plus-sur-et-plus-durable\"><\/a>\u200b<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the second Saturday of each month, the association also runs its own bar at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mac-arcenciel.be\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Maison Arc\u2011en\u2011Ciel de Bruxelles<\/a>, offering drinks in a rotating musical atmosphere \u2013 from alternative pop\u2011rock and italodisco to hip\u2011hop and riot grrrl vibes.
