The performance is part of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bruxellessurscenes.be\/fr\/Eventdetailpage.Davi-Pontes-and-Wallace-Ferreira-Repertorio-N-1.5700020913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Kunstenfestivaldesarts<\/a>\u00a0and is also listed in the official\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.visit.brussels\/fr\/visiteurs\/agenda\/event-detail.Davi-Pontes-and-Wallace-Ferreira-Repertorio-N-1.5700020913\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Visit Brussels agenda<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-choreographic-act-of-self-defence\">A choreographic act of self-defence<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the programme note,&nbsp;<em>Repert\u00f3rio N.1<\/em>&nbsp;asks how dance can become a form of self-defence. The piece draws on gesture codes used within Black and queer communities in Rio de Janeiro, turning movement into a language of recognition, safety and resistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"a-long-awaited-first-chapter\">A long-awaited first chapter<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The work was conceived in 2018 as the first part of a trilogy, but it was not staged at the time because of the political climate under former Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro.
