Bookmakers are screaming\u00a0Finland, the fanbase is split between several camps, and 35 countries are lining up to fight with key changes and pyro. At ket, we listened, argued and replayed way too many times \u2013 and we ended up with\u00a0three big crushes\u00a0for this year\u2019s contest:\u00a0Romania,\u00a0Greece\u00a0and\u00a0Finland.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Spoiler: yes, we think Finland might just burn the stage down. But let\u2019s start at the beginning.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"romania-the-comeback-that-refuses-to-behave-nicely\">Romania: the comeback that refuses to behave nicely<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First,&nbsp;<strong>Romania<\/strong>. After being absente.e from the contest, the country comes back with a song that doesn\u2019t try to be \u201cnice Eurovision\u201d, and that\u2019s exactly why we\u2019re into it.&nbsp;<strong>\u201cChoke Me\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Alexandra C\u0103pit\u0103nescu<\/strong>&nbsp;goes full dark pop with BDSM undertones, industrial edges and a chorus that doesn\u2019t ask for permission. It\u2019s not here to be family\u2011friendly; it\u2019s here to bite.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Where other entries are playing safe ballads or radio\u2011friendly EDM, Romania is bringing something that feels&nbsp;<strong>genuinely risky and theatrical<\/strong>. Vocally, Alexandra delivers attitude and control; visually, there\u2019s a clear space to push staging towards something queer, fetish\u2011coded and unapologetically extra. It\u2019s the kind of track that will probably divide the living\u2011room audience \u2013 but in queer circles, it has all the makings of a future cult favourite.<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/eurovisionworld.com\/eurovision\/songs-videos\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Is it a winner? Maybe not according to the odds, where Romania is much lower than the usual favourites. But in our&nbsp;<strong>ket hearts ranking<\/strong>, \u201cChoke Me\u201d is absolutely in the top tier. It\u2019s the kind of song you don\u2019t necessarily play for your parents, but you definitely play at 3 a.m. in a darkroom bar in Brussels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rtl.fr\/culture\/musique\/eurovision-2026-a-deux-mois-du-concours-la-france-fait-elle-partie-des-favoris-decouvrez-ce-que-disent-les-pronostics-7900612010\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Alexandra C\u0103pit\u0103nescu - Choke Me | Romania \ud83c\uddf7\ud83c\uddf4 | Official Music Video | #Eurovision2026\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/yn0YmI0dPb8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"greece-chaos-camp-and-a-gloriously-unhinged-earwor\">Greece: chaos, camp and a gloriously unhinged earworm<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then there\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Greece<\/strong>, represented by&nbsp;<strong>Akylas<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>\u201cFerto\u201d (\u03a6\u03ad\u03c1\u03c4\u03bf)<\/strong>. On paper, it\u2019s a mix of Balkan pop, hyperactive club energy and something that sounds like a folklore rave in a gay sauna. In practice, it\u2019s a&nbsp;<strong>beautiful mess in the best possible way<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cFerto\u201d feels like that one song in the line\u2011up that makes you go:&nbsp;<em>\u201cWhat is this\u2026 and why am I obsessed?\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;The structure is borderline chaotic, the production is dense, and the hook lodges itself into your brain like glitter under your skin. It also gives Akylas plenty of space to camp it up on stage \u2013 which, frankly, is what this contest is for.<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.24matins.fr\/eurovision-2026-qui-sont-les-favoris-selon-les-bookmakers-1404455\"><\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bookmakers are taking Greece very seriously: depending on the week,&nbsp;<strong>Akylas sits in the top 3\u20135 favourites<\/strong>, with around&nbsp;<strong>7\u201314% chances of victory<\/strong>&nbsp;in recent odds tables. That\u2019s already impressive. Add the staging potential and you get a genuine contender \u2013 and a likely fan\u2011favourite in queer bars from Brussels to Athens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our call:&nbsp;<strong>Greece is the chaos pick that could easily seize a jury\/televote combo if the live comes together<\/strong>. Expect TikTok edits, drag performances and a lot of breathless dancing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Akylas - Ferto | Greece \ud83c\uddec\ud83c\uddf7 | Official Music Video | #Eurovision2026\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/NGwNTd_DA9s?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"finland-the-banger-to-beat\">Finland: the banger to beat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let\u2019s be honest: if you\u2019ve seen even one list of favourites, you already know this.&nbsp;<strong>Finland<\/strong>&nbsp;is currently the&nbsp;<strong>undisputed front\u2011runner<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>\u201cLiekinheitin\u201d<\/strong>, performed by&nbsp;<strong>Linda Lampenius and Pete Parkkonen<\/strong>. Every ranking, from bookmakers to fan polls, has them sitting comfortably at the top, with&nbsp;<strong>around 30\u201335% chances of victory<\/strong>&nbsp;and an even higher probability of landing in the top 5.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And for once, the hype makes sense. \u201cLiekinheitin\u201d is a&nbsp;<strong>proper Eurovision banger<\/strong>: huge chorus, ethnic\u2011pop flourishes, a build that just keeps climbing and a drop designed for arena screams and pyrotechnics. Linda\u2019s violin, Pete\u2019s vocal power, the mix of Finnish lyrics and anthemic production \u2013 everything screams \u201cwinner edit\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From a queer\u2011night-out perspective, it\u2019s the track you will hear&nbsp;<strong>all summer<\/strong>&nbsp;in LGBTQIA+ bars, Pride afterparties and drag shows. It has that particular quality Eurovision fans call&nbsp;<strong>\u201cinstant\u201d<\/strong>: even if you hear it for the first time during the final, you\u2019ll get it by the second chorus. That\u2019s rare, and very dangerous for the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our prediction:&nbsp;<strong>if anyone steals the trophy from Finland, they\u2019ll have deserved it<\/strong>. Other countries are clearly in the mix:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>France<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>\u201cRegarde!\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;by&nbsp;<strong>Monroe<\/strong>, a dramatic, almost lyrical pop entry that the odds regularly place in the&nbsp;<strong>top 5<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Denmark<\/strong>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<strong>\u201cF\u00f8r Vi G\u00e5r Hjem\u201d<\/strong>, a indie\u2011pop\u2011leaning track that seems to seduce both juries and viewers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Australia<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Luxembourg<\/strong>,&nbsp;<strong>Italy<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>Sweden<\/strong>&nbsp;all have songs that could sneak into the upper part of the scoreboard depending on staging and live performances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Belgium<\/strong>, because we are Belgians.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But if Ket had to put metaphorical coins on the table, our&nbsp;<strong>queer podium of the heart<\/strong>&nbsp;would look like this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Finland \u2013 \u201cLiekinheitin\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(banger of the year, likely winner)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Greece \u2013 \u201cFerto\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(chaotic anthem with huge queer potential)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Romania \u2013 \u201cChoke Me\u201d<\/strong>&nbsp;(dark, kinky comeback we want to see explode on stage)<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"how-to-watch-it-queerstyle-in-brussels\">How to watch it queer\u2011style in Brussels<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because we\u2019re Ket, we won\u2019t let you watch this alone in your pyjamas if you don\u2019t want to. Proceed carefully.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever happens on the scoreboard in Vienna, one thing is clear:&nbsp;<strong>Eurovision 2026 is serving enough drama, queerness and bangers to keep Brussels dancing well beyond the final chorus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Side note: an alternative night at La Madeleine<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While Vienna is busy crowning a new Eurovision winner,&nbsp;<strong>Brussels<\/strong>&nbsp;is also hosting an&nbsp;<strong>alternative festival<\/strong>&nbsp;this Tuesday evening at&nbsp;<strong>La Madeleine<\/strong>. Titled&nbsp;<strong>\u201cUnited for Palestine\u201d<\/strong>, the event is organised in solidarity with Palestinians and to protest&nbsp;<strong>Israel\u2019s participation in the Eurovision Song Contest<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The initiative brings together Belgian unions and solidarity organisations, including&nbsp;<strong>FGTB\u2011ABVV, CSC\u2011ACV, INTAL, SOS Gaza, 11.11.11 and Vrede vzw<\/strong>.
