The team has chosen to end this chapter \u201cwith lucidity, dignity, gratitude\u2026 and the desire to celebrate until the very end.\u201d For the city\u2019s queer and alternative scenes, this is an immense loss: one of Brussels\u2019 most beloved, daring stages is about to disappear, leaving behind memories, careers and an entire ecosystem of artists who found a home there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Cabaret Mademoiselle \u00e0 Bruxelles: on y croise qui ? | ELLE Belgique\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fB1O5ZRwhY4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A landmark for Brussels nightlife<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Since 2017, Cabaret Mademoiselle has been more than just a venue. Nestled on&nbsp;<strong>rue du March\u00e9 au Charbon<\/strong>, it became a key space for burlesque, drag, cabaret, sideshow and all kinds of hybrid performances that did not fit easily anywhere else. It offered a stage to artists who play with gender, bodies and norms, but also to musicians, comedians and performers who share a taste for the offbeat and the magical.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"679\" src=\"https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Capture-decran-2026-06-12-202152.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-52902\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Capture-decran-2026-06-12-202152.jpg 640w, https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Capture-decran-2026-06-12-202152-283x300.jpg 283w, https:\/\/ket.brussels\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Capture-decran-2026-06-12-202152-11x12.jpg 11w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a city where venues come and go quickly, the cabaret managed to build a strong identity: intimate yet bold, kitsch and poetic at the same time, deeply rooted in the local scene while constantly opening its doors to guests from elsewhere. For many in Brussels\u2019 LGBTQIA+ communities, it functioned as a second home \u2013 a place to see yourself on stage, to bring friends discovering queer culture for the first time, or to disappear into the dark for a few hours of collective fantasy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Six last weekends, and a final grand farewell<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The team has decided not to fade away quietly. Between now and&nbsp;<strong>20 July<\/strong>, the cabaret will host&nbsp;<strong>six more weekends<\/strong>&nbsp;of programming: chances \u201cto laugh, applaud, have a drink, discover artists and experience one last time the Cabaret Mademoiselle magic.\u201d The climax will be the&nbsp;<strong>VERY LAST SHOWS<\/strong>&nbsp;on&nbsp;<strong>16, 17, 18 and 19 July<\/strong>, a final bouquet of performances before the lights go out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The full programme is available on their agenda, and if there was ever a time to finally go (or to go back), this is it. Even artists who never performed there reacted with emotion. Burlesque performer&nbsp;<strong>Lara FullCamp<\/strong>&nbsp;wrote:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cLa fermeture du Cabaret Mademoiselle me touche sinc\u00e8rement, m\u00eame si je n\u2019ai jamais eu l\u2019occasion d\u2019y performer. Certains lieux comptent bien au-del\u00e0 des artistes qui y sont pass\u00e9s. Ils font partie du paysage culturel, ils font r\u00eaver, ils rassemblent et ils permettent \u00e0 la magie du spectacle vivant d\u2019exister.<br>En tant qu\u2019artiste burlesque, je sais combien il est important que des sc\u00e8nes comme celle-ci puissent vivre. Derri\u00e8re chaque lieu qui ferme, il y a des souvenirs, des \u00e9motions, des artistes qui ont os\u00e9 se mettre \u00e0 nu\u2026 parfois au sens propre, mais toujours au sens artistique.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Performer&nbsp;<strong>LaDiva Live<\/strong>&nbsp;added:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cQuelle triste nouvelle.<br>Merci pour votre travail extraordinaire.<br>Merci de nous avoir fait r\u00eaver.<br>Merci d&#8217;avoir donn\u00e9 une plate-forme \u00e0 tant d&#8217;artistes.<br>Tout mon soutien.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These messages say it clearly: Cabaret Mademoiselle counted well beyond its own stage. It was part of the cultural landscape, a place that made people dream, that gathered audiences and that allowed live performance to remain something fragile, risky, but very much alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A golden book for memories<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before closing this chapter, the cabaret team wanted to leave space for the audience, too. On their&nbsp;<strong>\u201clivre d\u2019or\u201d<\/strong>, people can share:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A memory<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>An anecdote<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A meeting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A photo<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A few words, in any form<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If Cabaret Mademoiselle has meant something to you \u2013 a first date, a friendship, a revelation, a night where you finally felt seen \u2013 this is a chance to put it into words and archive it as part of the cabaret\u2019s collective memory. Because when a venue closes, it\u2019s not only a stage that disappears; it\u2019s a piece of emotional geography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The place closes, the spirit lives on<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In their announcement, the team insists on one thing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201c<em>Le lieu ferme. L\u2019esprit du Cabaret Mademoiselle, lui, continue de vivre.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That spirit is made of many things: a taste for risk, a love of performance, a refusal to separate seriousness and humour, and a deep respect for artists who \u201cput themselves naked\u201d \u2013 sometimes literally, always artistically. It will live on in future projects, collaborations, maybe one day in a new form of Cabaret Mademoiselle. A newsletter is already in place for those who want to follow what comes next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Thank you, Cabaret Mademoiselle<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The KET team wants to say it clearly:&nbsp;<strong>thank you<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you to all the people who made Cabaret Mademoiselle live with passion, audacity and generosity. Thank you for the nights where bodies and stories deemed \u201ctoo much\u201d elsewhere found a stage. Thank you for the care backstage, the glitter, the jokes, the tears, the technical mishaps turned into punchlines, the standing ovations and the quiet, shy claps from people who were maybe there for the first time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This closure is an immense loss for Brussels\u2019 queer and alternative scenes. But it is also a reminder of how essential these spaces are, and how much they deserve support while they are still alive.
