In een interview met GUS Magazine deelde Iris de inspiratie achter de titel door te zeggen,\u00a0<em>\"Het is het verhaal van een gestructureerd werk, een zich ontwikkelende ruggengraat die Edouard en Ranji (EDJI Gallery) mij de kans geven om te laten zien.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gusmen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/EDJI-GALERY_IRIS-MARCHAND-PORTRAITS_10-01-24_____%C2%A9Jules-Toulet-9-620x775.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48829\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Iris' tentoonstelling, gekenmerkt door bescheiden materialen zoals beddenlakens, karton en keramiek, vormt een intiem oeuvre dat zowel fysieke als emotionele ruimtes overstijgt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In de schilderijen van deze tentoonstelling werkt Iris op drie lagen van figuratie - landschap, lichaam en botten,\" legt het artikel uit. Deze sculpturale botten, gesneden uit gesso, fungeren als steun en schild en voegen een diepgaande dimensie toe aan de afgebeelde lichamelijke vormen. De figuren komen tevoorschijn door middel van krachtige, gebarentrekkende lijnen, die de nuances van kronkelend vlees, buigzame handen en ingebedde rimpels accentueren.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gusmen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/EDJI-GALERY_IRIS-MARCHAND_10-01-24_____Jules-Toulet-13-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48833\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Met name antieke beddenlakens dienen als canvas voor deze schilderijen, waardoor de kunstwerken een rijk kleurenspectrum en een unieke lichamelijke geschiedenis krijgen. Marchand reflecteerde in het interview op deze keuze en beschreef de lakens als\u00a0<em>\"<strong>dragers en houders voor het lichaam, zijn vlees, zijn zweet en zijn substantie<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De tentoonstelling toont ook tweeluiken getiteld&nbsp;<em>\"Attitudes Anatomiques 1, 2 en 3,\".<\/em>&nbsp;Ze bieden een ritme dat doet denken aan bedachtzame overpeinzingen. Deze arrangementen tonen botten en lichamen tegen een matte, donkergouden kartonnen achtergrond, waardoor een gekoppelde organisatie ontstaat die de cadans van het denken oproept.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gusmen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/EDJI-GALERY_IRIS-MARCHAND_10-01-24_____Jules-Toulet-22.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48832\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De sculpturale kwaliteit van Gesso krijgt extra dimensies door keramiek, moza\u00efekportretten en botachtige relikwie\u00ebn die in verschillende vormen worden tentoongesteld. De tentoonstelling presenteert een kosmische choreografie met keramische stekels die met tussenpozen aan metalen kettingen worden gestapeld, uit het plafond neerdalen en uit de grond opstijgen.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/gusmen.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/EDJI-GALERY_IRIS-MARCHAND_10-01-24_____Jules-Toulet-16.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-48834\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In haar handen, die een prominente plaats innemen in haar kunst, is Iris' toewijding aan het uitdagen van gendernormen duidelijk zichtbaar in de niet-genderde lichamen die zijn afgebeeld. In het interview legde ze uit,\u00a0<em>\"<strong>Handen waren voor mij altijd een studieobject. Ze zijn een lichaamsdeel dat op zichzelf kan staan, waar je op neer kunt kijken en dat je kunt beschrijven alsof het andere<\/strong>.\"<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Terwijl Iris haar artistieke proces en de uitdagingen die ze tegenkomt bespreekt, komt een thema van constante zelfdefinitie naar voren.
