The iconic Brussels cabaret, Chez Maman, just moved to a new place for the summer and is welcoming you in another venue. Choux de Bruxelles on the Brussels Grand-Place unveiled this week it’s new concept : “The Drag Dining Experience”. What to expect ? You have the choice between two formulas: tapas and cocktails to enjoy in the lounge on the ground floor of the majestic Maison Grand-Place or a three-course dinner-show upstairs with a view of the most beautiful square in the world! And all of that accompanied by fierce drag queen performances.
Sugar Love, Fernanda Lust, Gabbana, Hélène de Bruxelles, Miss Face, Clarika and even more Maman’s daughters were left without the ability to perform for too long. A too narrow venue to be adapted with covid measures and the departure of Maman de Bruxelles was the perfect opportunity for Amaury Morauw to join forces with Choux de Bruxelles caterer and Stijn De Knijf and come up with the concept. Amaury is well known for organizing a lot of queer events in Brussels such as Les Après-midis Croque-Monsieur and more recently Fika Fika parties at Chalet Robinson. Drag brunches are famous in the US for a long time but the idea hadn’t really been adapted in Belgium yet. And it is now done ! Amaury wanted to be able to reach out to the queens since he worked at Chez Maman has a student some years ago.
Drag Dining Brussels welcomes you into the luxurious Maison Grand-Place and allows you to enter the ground floor on a red carpet catwalk just to find a seat and enjoy drinks and tapas while watching the show happening on stage. Upstairs, you will discover a totally different vibe since you are invited to sit at a fancy table with drag queens performing between the tables and interacting with the guests. 18 acts each night between 7 and 11PM. The bar is always to the public, restaurant tables must be booked in advance. And this is already a success since the two entire first weeks were booked in advance.
