Italo Tavares (ItaloT) is a multidisciplinary visual artist exploring the intersection of performativity and visual culture. Existing between two geographically distant territories—Fortaleza, Brazil, and Brussels, Belgium—he inhabits both spaces mentally, merging influences that shape his artistic vision.
His work questions the tensions between modernity and cultural identity, blending Brazilian and European ambiances while addressing themes of belonging, migration, and displacement. With a background in Law, Political Science, and Applied Linguistics, Tavares infuses his practice with critical discourse, notably examining ethnic displacement and the complexities of multiculturalism.
Currently working in theater alongside his practice in photography, performance, and cinema, Tavares expands his exploration of storytelling and embodiment. Through his work, he seeks to spark a dialogue on the fluid nature of cultural hybridity and identity in contemporary society.
Pascal Buyse is an art mediator at BRONKS. Both within BRONKS and his own art practice as a theatre maker, he works towards a more inclusive world. Among other things, he developed the Queer operation within BRONKS which provides space for the Brussels Ballroom Community.
BRONKS is Brussels’ Dutch-language theatre for young audiences. BRONKS aims to be a platform that gives artists the opportunity to address relevant and bold themes in front of a young public. Artists are invited to create works that embody the BRONKS spirit: theatre that can be beautiful and relaxing, but also non-conformist and full of a spirit of contradiction. Theatre that reflects on the world around it.
