Hedwig is more than a musical—it’s a raw, electrifying explosion of queerness, pain, and self-acceptance. Hedwig and the Angry Inch, the cult rock-opera by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask, has been shaking audiences worldwide since its Off-Broadway debut in 1998. And now, it’s making waves in La Louvière, bringing its rebellious energy to Belgium in a French adaptation.

Set as a high-voltage concert, the show follows Hedwig’s journey from East Berlin to the U.S., after a botched gender-affirmation surgery leaves her with the titular “angry inch.” Abandoned, betrayed, but never broken, she takes us on a soul-baring ride through rock ballads, punk anthems, and gut-wrenching confessions.

Hedwig is the ultimate queer antihero—a mess, a star, a survivor. Her story isn’t just about gender, love, or loss; it’s about finding wholeness in a fragmented world. It’s about reclaiming our narratives, rewriting our endings, and rocking the f*ck out while we do it.

Brussels’ queer scene—this is worth the trip. La Louvière is calling, ready to welcome a musical that speaks to all of us who’ve felt lost, misunderstood, or like the world just doesn’t get us. This version, performed in French with songs in English, keeps all the raw emotion and intensity of the original, making it accessible to an even wider audience.
Let’s show up, make noise, and prove that queer culture thrives everywhere—including in Belgium.
