Thank God I’m Not Straight: Queer Faith Takes the Stage at Bozar

When faith meets freedom, something powerful happens. On Thursday, February 26, the Bozar – Palais des Beaux-Arts in Brussels hosts Thank God I’m Not Straight, a bold multidisciplinary creation by Izo, blending dance, ritual, spoken word, and performance.

At once intimate and political, Izo’s performance reinterprets biblical narratives through queer eyes and bodies — an act of resistance, reclamation, and healing. Through movement and voice, Thank God I’m Not Straight dives into deep tensions: between faith and identityfamily and spiritualityheritage and self-definition.

Must one abandon spirituality to live fully as queer — or sacrifice part of oneself to stay in the light of faith?
Here, those dimensions no longer oppose each other; they meet, clash, and finally embrace. The stage becomes a sacred space for those navigating the fragile borders between belief and being — queer ritual of liberation.

Presented as part of Brussels Bijoux, this event promises an unforgettable evening of art, intensity, and reflection at Bozar Brussels.
