After six months of renovations, Centrale for Contemporary Art in Brussels has reopened with a fresh look and an exciting new exhibition titled Hosting. This exhibition brings together 247 artists from Brussels and its surrounding areas, featuring 353 works ranging from paintings to sculptures, videos, and installations. The show is designed as a “cabinet of curiosities,” offering a unique journey through the artistic diversity of the city.
Hosting was conceived through an open call, with artists selected anonymously to ensure a broad and inclusive representation of both established and emerging talent. Inspired by London’s Summer Exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts, Hosting emphasizes hospitality, community, and artistic solidarity. The works occupy all the newly renovated spaces at Centrale, presenting a vivid snapshot of Brussels’ contemporary art scene.
Visitors can explore these artworks while engaging in performances, workshops, and guided tours that will be organized throughout the exhibition’s run, which lasts until February 2025. Centrale has been reimagined as a space where art meets community, inviting the public to immerse themselves in an open, welcoming atmosphere that fosters creativity and dialogue.
Located in a former power station in the Sainte-Catherine district, Centrale continues to serve as a focal point for Brussels’ artistic and cultural life. The space now boasts a redesigned interior, making it even more accessible and inviting for art enthusiasts of all backgrounds.
Centrale for Contemporary Art is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM, at Place Sainte-Catherine 45, Brussels. Tickets are available online, offering various rates, including discounts for students and seniors. The exhibition is also part of the Brussels Volume Pass, providing combined access to both cultural and nightlife venues across the city.
