Located in the heart of Saint-Gilles, Brussels, Épicentre is a multidisciplinary center dedicated to care, well-being, and learning, with a mission to make non-normative, non-oppressive health accessible to everyone. The center is committed to welcoming diversity and ensuring a respectful approach to the experiences and realities that fall outside the mainstream. Épicentre actively highlights and addresses the needs of marginalized communities.
What is Épicentre?
Épicentre offers a safe and inclusive space at 85B rue du Fort, 1060 Saint-Gilles, where individuals can access a range of health and wellness services. The center is part of the CECSI project (Collaborative Evras and Inclusive Health Center), alongside the association O’YES ASBL, to create a holistic, community-oriented health hub.
Inclusive Health: The Épicentre Approach
Épicentre’s philosophy is rooted in inclusivity. The team works to actively share the mental and emotional burdens often placed on minorities, challenging normative blindness and continually educating themselves to better understand and support diverse needs. The center’s approach is not just about equality, but equity—ensuring that everyone, particularly those from marginalized backgrounds, receives care tailored to their specific realities.
The creation of Épicentre responds to the exclusion of minority groups from mainstream healthcare. Many people feel unseen or misunderstood by traditional health systems, leading to a loss of trust and reluctance to seek care. Épicentre aims to bridge this gap, providing a space where everyone—LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with diverse bodies, relationships, and identities—can access respectful, knowledgeable, and affirming care.
