Trump Burns Lives and Vital Resources: Join Sensoa to Take Action

Donald Trump’s administration has taken drastic steps to destroy millions of euros worth of prevention and contraception supplies stored in Belgium—amounting to €8 million in resources. This measure is not only shockingly wasteful but cruel, and it directly threatens lives while undermining public health and safety.

Ex Aequo will be present at Sensoa’s demonstration on Thursday, September 18, at 11 a.m.

Volunteers, allies, and supporters are invited to join in rejecting these ultraconservative policies that threaten established public health gains. The rally will take place at the corner of Rue Guimard and Avenue des Arts, in front of the U.S. Embassy in Brussels.

The international network Coalition PLUS, including Ex Aequo, is sounding the alarm: since the suspension of American funding in early 2025, the fight against HIV has plunged into serious crisis.

  • testing services have been interrupted
  • millions of people face disruptions in life-saving antiretroviral treatments
  • critical shortages of PrEP, condoms, and medical supplies are mounting

Failing to act means agreeing to a dangerous setback. History shows how vital such prevention is for community health.

To learn more about the devastating impact of Trump’s policies on HIV prevention, explore the following resources:

  • The New York Times reports nearly $10 million in contraceptives and medical supplies were intentionally destroyed on orders from Trump officials rather than delivered to programs saving lives abroad.
  • The Guttmacher Institute and other experts explain how the U.S. cut to family planning grants and AIDS programs will cause tens of thousands of unintended pregnancies and preventable deaths worldwide.
  • Human rights groups and international networks continue warning that suspending American aid puts millions at risk and wastes resources that could have been distributed or donated at no cost.

It is morally unacceptable to destroy tools that prevent HIV and save lives. Sensoa and Coalition PLUS call on the public to stand up, organize, and reject these destructive policies.
