Former federal member of Parliament Dries Van Langenhove has used the International Day Against Homophobia, Lesbophobia, Biphobia, Transphobia, and Interphobia to diffuse hate against our community.
On his social media accounts, the former Vlaams Belang politician has called the LGBTQIA+ flag a p*dophile flag.
We can see him go into a store who proudly has a rainbow flag on its facade and ask the owners if they are awar they have a p*dophile flag and offer to take it down.
This act is completely violating Belgian laws against discrimination towards the LGBTQIA+ community. Homophobia and other phobias publicly expressed against the LGBTQIA+ community are not opinions, but crimes in our country. This man has already been condemned for hate speech, racism, antisemitism, and negationism.
These statements are unacceptable. We must stand together against this hate. Please, spread the word, report the posts on social without commenting on them. It would only give them more visibility.
Pride is and has always been a protest. So, shout out loud against hateful individuals. Nothing will bring us down.

If you are the victim or the witness of an LGBTQIA+phobic event, please report it. Want to report an incident? Violent, stigmatising and unacceptable remarks? You can send us an email to fiche@rainbowhouse.be
Prevention & Security and the Brussels Regional Public Service (equal.brussels) together with Rainbowhouse Brussels are conducting a data collection project on violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. In collaboration with various partners, a reporting form on such facts has been developed and came into force early 2019.
