Tell us a bit about yourself. What has been your journey?

My name is François Coune, I’m 27 years old and I live in Brussels after a childhood and adolescence spent in Liège. I’m a lover of life, people (yes, it’s true), art and travel, and I live life like there’s no tomorrow. Professionally, I’m a creator of literary and cultural content on the Instagram account @livraisondemots and I’m having a lot of fun doing it!

What are your current or future projects after Drag Race Belgique?

After the release of my first book “Et si on se livrait des mots” last March and a clothing collection two years ago, I continue to set up different projects as time goes by and my desires change. I’m currently discovering this year’s new literary season, which is full of impressive treasures. I’m reading a lot, and I continue to welcome authors on my Instagram account every week to share about their released books. I’m still organizing literary breakfasts and apéros to meet people and talk about our passion for books together all over French-speaking Belgium and France! There should be more to come soon… stay tuned!

What does being a part of the Brussels queer community mean to you?

Before being part of the Brussels queer community, I’m above all part of the queer community itself. Just as I’m very proud to be Belgian, I’m very proud to be queer, even if it’s not something I claim, but rather something that’s part of me, and that’s fine.

What are your queer influences?

I’ve got loads of them! Mika, Bilal Hassani, Adam Lambert, Suzane, Lady Gaga, Karl Lagarfeld, Nan Goldin, Keith Harring, Troye Sivan, Daphné Burki, Loïc Prigent, Simon Porte-Jacquemus, Olly Alexander, Nicolas Maury, Yves Saint-Laurent, Xavier Dolan, Edna Sorgelsen, Lukas Dhont, Philippe Besson are all inspiring artists for me. For various reasons, of course!

What Brussels queer initiatives are you fond of?

I have to say that I love the Queeriosity events held at the Théâtre De La Vie, which aims to be a caring queer laboratory of expression, dedicated to creative experimentation, scenic research and work in progress. These evenings are hosted by La Veuve, and I always discover a whole bunch of artists from different backgrounds who are more than talented! I really like this gay district, where you always feel very safe, and its cafés where a good atmosphere reigns! I also have to tell you that I love going to Pride every year (it’s better when the weather’s nice) and I keep up to date with what’s going on around here.
