Double Bill: Beyt Al Tapes + Bloedneus & de Snuitkever
December 2, 2021
This is a Covid Safe Ticket concert! What do you need?Don’t forget your Covid Safe Ticket, proof of identity and facemask to gain access to this concert. Beyt al Tapes is (aside from being a label) the solo project of Niels Latomme, avant-garde-cycl(terror)(tour)ist, tape composer and modernist romantic who (with a healthy dose of 2000’s-DIY-aesthetic) reinterprets old-fashioned musique concrète via spectral detours into tape collages, quadrophonic spatialisations and performances that (sometimes) transcend the silly joke. Key concept in his work is “confusion”. Released tapes on KERM (BE), Chocolate Monk (uk) and Meat Based Leftovers (BE). Latest feat is the tape/CD ‘Une Rose’ on IKUISUUS tapes (FI); a concept album where the concept hides behind 7 compositions that sway between minimalism, brutal chunks of synth and extended vocal techniques. Think: Maryanne Amacher who has read to much Guust Flater. Bloedneus & de Snuitkever is the nom de plume of Brussels soundartist and Aulos-player Lukas De Clerck. The Aulos is an ancient wind instrument consisting of two double-reeded playing pipes. De Clerck performs contemporary compositions in a completely unique way with this age-old instrument. Along with self-released work, there have also been releases via QO2 and on Krut (Kraaks online sublabel) and Beyt Al Tapes.
