Te openingsceremonie van de Olympische Spelen in Parijs, gevierd om haar creativiteit, heeft geleid tot een donkere nasleep voor twee van haar sleutelfiguren. Thomas Jolly, de regisseur van de ceremonie, en DJ Barbara Butch, een van de hoofdartiesten, hebben te maken met een golf van cyberpesten.
Jolly is het doelwit geweest vanwege zijn seksuele geaardheid en vermeende Israëlische afkomst, terwijl Butch te maken heeft gehad met gemene groofobische en homofobische aanvallen.
Beide
Beiden hebben een aanklacht ingediend terwijl het onderzoek naar deze haatdaden wordt voortgezet. President Macron en burgemeester Anne Hidalgo hebben de pesterijen publiekelijk veroordeeld en staan achter Jolly en Butch om hun rechten en artistieke bijdragen te verdedigen.
