In the heart of winter, far from big city rainbow crowds, Pride heads uphill. On 31 January 2026, the Queyras Pride returns for its fourth edition in Molines en Queyras, a small Alpine village perched at 1,750 metres in the Hautes Alpes. With skis on their feet and glitter on their cheeks, participants prove that queer joy does not need concrete to thrive.
Hosting a Pride in a remote mountain valley is a powerful choice. In rural and alpine areas, LGBTQIA+ visibility can still feel limited or quietly absent. The Queyras Pride challenges the idea that queerness belongs only to major cities. LGBTQIA+ people live here too, loving, working, and building lives, and they deserve spaces of celebration and safety wherever they are. Through a festive ski descent, drag shows, comedy, and shared moments on and off the slopes, the mountains become a space of connection and recognition.
What makes this Pride special is its balance. It is joyful without being overwhelming, political without shouting. Well known drag performers share the stage and the snow with inclusive sports associations, reminding us that community is built through both celebration and collective care. For one winter day, Molines en Queyras becomes a temporary queer village, where difference is not just accepted but warmly welcomed.
From Brussels, the highest Pride in the Alps feels like a hopeful reminder. Queer life exists everywhere. Whether dancing under a tent, in a city club, or on a snowy slope, Pride always finds a way, sometimes by rising above it all.
