Excited for the Lesbian* Visibility Day? Get ready for the Lesbian* Visibility Week! Several lesbian collectives and projects have banded together to offer a festive cocktail of events in light of the Lesbian* Visibility Week 2024 to the community. KET Magazine talked to Mathilde They, volunteer at Go to Gynéco!, about the event.
A Festival for the Community
“This is exciting because it shows that together we are so much stronger and can create events for everyone. Throughout the week, there are activities for families, the general public, those with awareness, introverts, extroverts, and more. There will be exhibitions, performances, yoga, stand-up comedy, and even a singing performance by the queer choir, Sing Out.”
“One standout event is the Zine presentation ‘Dykeup’, part of the Visibility series at Grands Carmes, featuring an exhibition and more. There’s also a stand-up comedy and auction night by Atout Comedy Club, creating a diverse array of experiences.”
“Most events are free, a deliberate choice to make them accessible to all. This inclusivity extends to the audience, with events suitable for various preferences, including alcohol-free options.”
“The collaboration among organizations ensures a comprehensive schedule with minimal overlap, providing ample opportunities for everyone to participate. The aim is to create an atmosphere of camaraderie and support, whether as a volunteer or attendee.”
“While volunteers are always welcome, it’s not an urgent call as there’s already significant support. However, those interested in lending a hand are encouraged to join, contributing to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere.”
“Overall, the festival promises to be a celebration of diversity and community. It will be an inclusive environment where everyone will hopefully feel valued and appreciated.”
