Various Voices 2026: Brussels Prepares for Europe’s Biggest LGBTQI+ Choir Festival

From 24 to 28 June 2026, Brussels will host Various Voices, Europe’s flagship LGBTQI+ choir festival, bringing together 120 choirs from 18 countries. The festival’s official choir page showcases the scale and diversity of the lineup, from intimate vocal groups to large ensembles of more than 100 singers.

A festival built on visibility and joy

Various Voices is more than a music event: it is a celebration of LGBTQI+ visibility, solidarity, and collective expression. Organised by Sing Out Brussels! with the support of Legato, the European association of LGBTQ+ choirs, the festival will turn Brussels into a citywide stage for concerts, performances, and encounters.

The programme already promises a packed week, with nearly 400 events over five days, including free lunchtime concerts, aperitif performances, themed shows, and appearances across several Brussels venues. Bozar is among the key partner venues highlighted by the organisers.

120 choirs, 18 countries, one shared stage

The festival’s official “Choirs” page invites visitors to discover the participating ensembles and the breadth of styles they represent. The lineup includes gay, mixed, feminist, classical, pop, and a cappella choirs, as well as groups coming from Belgium, Germany, France, the United Kingdom, the United States, the Netherlands, Finland, Ireland, Switzerland, and beyond.

That diversity is also reflected in the format of the performances: small vocal trios, mid-sized ensembles, and “mega-choirs” of more than 100 singers will all share the stage. The result should be a festival that is as much about musical discovery as it is about emotional and collective resonance.

Why this matters

Beyond its cultural dimension, Various Voices Brussels 2026 is also a political and community statement. It gives LGBTQI+ singers and allies a space to be visible, to connect across borders, and to celebrate a shared European queer culture through music.

For Brussels audiences, it is a rare chance to experience the international LGBTQI+ choral scene without leaving the city. For cultural and LGBTQI+ media, it offers a strong story about community, identity, and the power of collective voice.
