In every episode of KET Talks, the Brussels queer podcast, Vjeran recommends some tracks to add to your playlist !
Christine and the Queens – People I’ve been sad
From the EP – La vita nuova
This track – and its show-stopping video – has been out a while, but if you haven’t had the opportunity to hear it, we highly recommend doing so!
Truly, there is a reason why Times Magazine named this song their ‘Song of the year’. Written by Héloïse/Christine in 2019 as she was grieving the loss of her mother, and released in February of 2020 – just before the pandemic and lockdowns hit the entire planet – this track has translated well into the eerie atmosphere we all find ourselves in.
This song also serves as a magnificent example of the best art coming from true, deep, honest experiences, not something that’s designed for a Tik Tok challenge.
Eats Everything – Honey
Honey is a track that will give you the confidence of a drag queen.
UK DJ, producer, and clubber Eats Everything has ingeniously incorporated old vocals from the ballroom legend of the New York Scene in the ‘90s – Moi Renee.
We can hear the drag icon shouting out ‘Miss Honey’ over a retro club house beat and we cannot wait to dance to it while calling out all the other Miss Honeys for having a nerve.
Rest in peace Moi Renee. In the words of Lady Gaga herself, we call you – talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique!
