Homografia Festival, your queer video & performance festival focused on sexuality beyond the norm is back for a new edition. Check out the programme of short movies, artwork and performances that evoke the relationship between sexuality, gender identity and artistic creation.
Created in Mexico in 2015 and taking place in Brussels since 2019, the festival runs from September 27th to September 30th this year, at 4 exclusive Brussels landmark venues: the opening night at La Bellone is dedicated to poetry; at Les Grands-Carmes’ community space you can visit the exhibition; at the Beursschouwburg two pieces about sexwork will be shown and at Reset’s raw space you can discover original installations. Reset will also be the festival centre during two days and the setting of a flamboyant closing night!
This 9th edition is built on two main thematics. The festival opens with Writing, Orality, Adelphity, presented by the author Lisette Lombé, national poetess of 2024 and unparalleled declaimer. Accompanied by other spoken word artists, they will create pure magic in the magnificent courtyard of La Bellone.
The second theme explores the New Territories, whether they are sexual or convivial to our communities, from ‘hunting’ territories to virtual territories. In what space are we? For which bodies? Let yourself be guided through the installations, especially designed for your pleasure, between the institutional and the peepshow.
Expect a multitude of performances and videos this year, when entering the spaces of Homografía. There are also workshops created for the public, including one writing workshop; an exhibition presenting 8 queer artists practising drawing, photography or installation art; ERG students will present a special performance-installation; last but not least, the closing party at the Reset Club will be hot, with a live by Gæraldxoxo, and enchanted sets of dark wave, house and techno, thanks to Frau Diamanda. We are celebrating her return with an exhibition and a talk. For the first time, Homografia welcomes Longavida, Legolane and Rescue!
And let’s not forget about an installation which sensual effect will awaken your erotic feelings: a peepshow with the crème de la crème of striptease & neo-burlesque artists such as Jamal Phoenix, Olga Kalashnikova and many other talents, gogos everywhere, beware!
Enjoy the festival and take a look at our manifesto. By respecting it, visitors can make Homografía a safer space for everyone.
