On 17 and 18 April, Les Halles de Schaerbeek hosts Benefit Party, a two-day fundraising event in support of the Trans* Solidarity Fund Belgium (TSFB). With talks, DJ sets, live performances, food and a clear anti-discrimination message, the event combines nightlife with radical solidarity.
The programme is packed from start to finish. It opens on Friday 17 April with doors at 5:30 pm and a talk on housing at 6:30 pm, before moving into an evening of music and performances featuring Gomar, DeserTGirlZ, Tami T, Jhayance & Acid Lily, and Sophew, alongside surprise guests, food and stands from 7:30 pm to midnight.
What makes the event stand out is its political and practical purpose. All proceeds will be donated to TSFB, a self-organised fund created in 2022 with administrative and financial support from the Marius Jacob Foundation, to provide direct and automatic support to trans* people in precarious situations in Belgium.

The organisers frame the benefit night as a response to a difficult climate for trans communities across Europe, pointing to the rise of the far right, transphobic rhetoric and broader setbacks for minority rights. In that sense, Benefit Party is not only a festive night out, but also a concrete act of collective care.
Accessibility has also been taken into account. Les Halles de Schaerbeek notes that the venue is accessible to people with reduced mobility, and asks visitors who need assistance to contact the team in advance at reservation@halles.be. The event page also stresses that no discriminatory behaviour will be tolerated.
Les Halles de Schaerbeek remains one of Brussels’ major cultural venues, with a longstanding role in the city’s artistic and civic life. In that context, Benefit Party fits into a broader tradition of using cultural spaces not just for performance, but for public engagement and mutual support.
