The Shit Show is an underground cabaret in Marseille heavily inspired by British punk culture, where anything can happen. Absurdity and even stupidity are embraced there as political tools. And that inevitably leads to colorful performances where “shit” and “show” are constantly intertwined. So how could we not associate them with Anal Pompidou, the Marolles cabaret led by performance artist Simon Van Schuylenberg and his husband Steven Sommereyns? With their “Bottom-up” initiative, specializing in “D.I.Y. trash,” Anal hopes that rents will soon drop in Louise, Dansaert, Petit Sablon, Grand Sablon, in front of the European Parliament, and throughout the municipality of Uccle. The association has been fighting HIV/AIDS since 1994 across French-speaking Belgium with the support of the Walloon and Brussels authorities. In response to a resurgence of the epidemic, it is using this concert to renew HIV prevention efforts among the general public and young people in particular.
