KET RAINBOW AWARDS – EN

The KET Rainbow Awards are an initiative to promote diversity, inclusion, and the fight against discrimination in the Brussels Capital Region and throughout Belgium. This event is designed to reward individuals and initiatives that have significantly contributed to the inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community and the fight against discrimination.

The categories of the awards:

  • Safe Space,
  • Inclusion in the Workplace,
  • Non-profit Initiative,
  • European Project,
  • Inclusive Touristic Initiative,
  • Inclusive Sports Initiative,
  • Best Ally.

The event is co-organized by KET Magazine, Visites Particulières, and visit.brussels, and will take place on Tuesday, May 7th, at the BIP Meeting Center in Brussels.

The deadline for submitting applications is April 22, 2024.

Regulations:

Safer Space: This category rewards exceptional initiatives or programs that have created a safer and more inclusive environment for all members of the LGBTQIA+ community. This may include community centers, support groups, online platforms, or any innovative approach that effectively addresses the safety and well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals, and fosters a sense of belonging and safety.

Inclusion in the Workplace: This category celebrates a private company that has taken significant steps to promote diversity and inclusion within its work environment. The focus is on initiatives that encourage acceptance and respect for LGBTQIA+ employees, such as inclusive policies, diversity training programs, support networks, or recruitment practices that ensure fair representation and a welcoming work environment.

Non-profit Initiative: This category honors a non-profit organization that has made exceptional contributions to the LGBTQIA+ community. These initiatives may involve advocacy, education, support services, or community engagement activities that have a substantial impact on improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ individuals and promoting an inclusive society.

European Project: Recognizing Brussels’ role as the heart of Europe, this award is dedicated to the best European project aligned with the values of diversity and inclusion. The project should have a wide-reaching impact, promoting the rights, awareness, and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community throughout Europe, and demonstrating Brussels’ commitment to leading such initiatives during its presidency of the EU.

Inclusive Touristic Initiative: This category honors a remarkable tourist project or initiative that has significantly contributed to making tourism in Brussels and Belgium more inclusive for the LGBTQIA+ community. This may include LGBTQIA+-friendly accommodation services, tours, events, or marketing campaigns that welcome and celebrate diversity, providing a safe and enjoyable experience for LGBTQIA+ travelers.

Inclusive Sports Initiative: This award recognizes an initiative or program that has made remarkable progress in promoting inclusivity in sports, in Brussels and beyond. Whether it’s creating LGBTQIA+-friendly sports teams, organizing inclusive sports events, or implementing policies that guarantee equal participation opportunities regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, this category celebrates efforts to break down barriers in sports and promote an environment of respect and equality.

Rules:

Eligibility: Any individual, organization, company, or initiative based in Belgium that has worked for the inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community can apply. Applications must be related to one of the seven announced categories.
Application File: Applicants must submit a file that includes a presentation of the project, its objectives, target audiences, results achieved, as well as concrete proof of the project’s impact. Applications must be sent before April 22.
Selection Process: A selection committee composed of members from KET Magazine, Visites Particulières, visit.brussels, and experts from the LGBTQIA+ community will evaluate the files based on originality, impact, inclusiveness, and contribution to the fight against discrimination.
Awards: Winners of each category will be announced during the award ceremony on May 7 at the BIP Meeting Center. Each winner will receive a trophy and will gain visibility on the platforms of KET Magazine and its partners.
Participant Commitment: By applying, participants commit to respecting the values of diversity, inclusion, and the fight against discrimination. They also give their consent for their project to be promoted as part of the event and by its partners.

We reserve the right not to award a prize in one or more categories if the files received do not meet our expected quality and impact criteria.
This regulation aims to ensure a fair and transparent selection process while highlighting the remarkable efforts in favor of the inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community in Belgium.

Additionally, the project must have been implemented between January 1, 2023, and February 29, 2024.
