L’Abeille Blanche: Ink, Art & Inclusivity in the Heart of Brussels

L’Abeille Blanche is a collective and safe, LGBTQIA+ friendly space designed to promote artists across all disciplines. It serves as a hub for connection, exchange, and collaboration, featuring an interconnected setup with a coworking tattoo salon and a boutique for small creators.

“Our collective, L’Abeille Blanche, started as a COVID Project for artists and creatives dedicated to providing safer and inclusive spaces for the LGBTQIA+ community in Brussels. Over the years, we’ve grown into a vibrant hub that includes a coworking tattoo studio, and a boutique showcasing local creators. Our journey has been one of constant evolution, always guided by our commitment to inclusivity, creativity, and community. We’ve faced challenges, but our passion and the support from our community have helped us turn those challenges into growth opportunities.”

“Currently, we are organizing monthly tattoo events, which bring together our best tattoo artists to create, connect, and collaborate in a welcoming environment. Looking ahead, we’re also exploring the idea of establishing additional spaces in other cities, creating a network of inclusive creative spaces across Belgium and beyond.”

“For us, improving the situation of the LGBTQIA+ community means creating spaces where everyone feels safe, respected, and celebrated for who they are. It’s about offering opportunities for expression, connection, and growth, whether that’s through art, community events, or simply providing a welcoming environment. We believe that visibility and representation are key, and we strive to be a beacon of positivity and inclusivity in everything we do.”

“Brussels is already a wonderfully diverse and vibrant city, but there’s always room for improvement. We believe that increased visibility for LGBTQIA+ spaces and initiatives, along with stronger anti-discrimination policies, would help make the city even more inclusive. Education and awareness are also crucial—ensuring that all residents understand the importance of inclusivity and the role they play in making everyone feel safe and welcome.”

“We’re big fans of initiatives like RainbowHouse Brussels, which provides crucial support and resources to the LGBTQIA+ community. We also admire organizations like Genres Pluriels, which does incredible work advocating for non-binary and gender diverse people. These initiatives, along with many others, are vital to creating a more inclusive society, and we’re proud to be part of this vibrant community.”
