Homoparentalités ASBL is a Brussels-based association for LGBTQI+ parents, future parents, and their children, offering community, information, and political advocacy across French-speaking Belgium.
Who they are
The association welcomes anyone in a family that includes one or more LGBTQI+ parents, whether they are already parents or thinking about parenthood. It focuses on assistance with parenting, defending the rights of families in homoparental situations, and creating a solidarity space where parents and children can meet and share experiences. Homoparentalités ASBL is a member of the RainbowHouse Brussels, placing it at the heart of the local LGBTQI+ community.
What they do
Homoparentalités offers practical information on different paths to parenthood, including donor insemination, shared conception within lesbian couples, coparenting, adoption, foster care and, with careful warnings, surrogacy. They also explain key legal issues in Belgium, such as co-maternity and filiation, including how non-biological mothers can establish legal parenthood for children born before and after 1 January 2015. The association organises activities like online experience-sharing evenings about surrogacy, assisted reproduction, adoption, coparenting, and foster families, often in connection with RainbowHouse.

Diversity of families
The organisation insists that “our families are diverse” and recognises many family constellations: children from previous heterosexual relationships, lesbian couples using donor insemination, coparenting arrangements between queer and straight parents, adoptive families, and foster families welcoming children in difficulty. It stresses that all family types are welcome in foster care, regardless of age, culture, social situation, or sexual orientation, and highlights external resources for adoption and foster care services in Belgium.
Political and legal engagement
Beyond peer support, Homoparentalités actively monitors political developments and fights discrimination against LGBTQI+ families. The association has worked on proposals for a legal framework around “don de gestation” (surrogacy) and updates its positions as the Belgian debate evolves. It also provides links to official justice and community authority information so families can better understand their rights and options.
How to get involved
Becoming a member is intentionally simple: you contact the association and pay an annual fee, which can be done online or via bank transfer. Membership options range from individual supporting members to “family” members with voting rights at the general assembly, and benefits include reduced or free access to activities and a regular newsletter.
https://rainbowhouse.be/fr/association/homoparentalites/Homoparentalités ASBL is based at Rue du Marché au Charbon 42, 1000 Brussels, and continues to build a dynamic programme of family events, information sessions, and positive visibility for LGBTQI+ parenthood in Belgium and beyond.
