With the announcement of the nominees for the Academy Awards, it’s exciting to see that Close – a film by Lukas Dhont – has been nominated in the Best International Film category.
Close explores the intimate friendship between two 13-year-old boys.
The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was awarded the Grand Prix.
As well as Belgium’s entry, the other films vying for the Oscar for Best International Film include productions from Germany, Argentina, Poland, and Ireland.
The winners will be announced on 12 March.
