From November 29 to December 1, 2024, KANAL-Centre Pompidou will host the inaugural Brussels Ass Book Fair, an exciting new chapter in the world of independent queer publishing. After six acclaimed editions in Paris, this unique event lands in Brussels, creating a vibrant space for LGBTQIA+ creativity, community, and conversation.
The fair brings together over 50 exhibitors from Belgium and beyond, offering an eclectic mix of books, zines, and editions. These works push boundaries with humor, provocation, and radical ideas, giving a platform to creators and collectives whose voices often go unheard in mainstream publishing.
But this event is much more than a book fair—it’s a full-on cultural experience. The Gay Haze x Brussels Ass Book Fair event on November 29 kicks off the weekend with music and mingling from 7 PM to 10 PM. Over the weekend, dive into interactive workshops like Press Play by Bebe Books, running both days, or get inked at the Flash Days Tattoo Studio.
Panels and talks enrich the experience, featuring topics like “Sex and Garment Fetish: From Camp to Kiffeur” on November 30 or the exploration of LGBTQIA+ archives in Belgium on December 1. For the musically inclined, enjoy a live DJ set by ojoo on November 30, rounding out a day filled with engaging discussions and art.
Held at K1, KANAL’s temporary venue on Avenue du Port, the fair’s location is as dynamic as its program. With two floors dedicated to exhibitors, performances, and conversations, there’s plenty of space to explore, connect, and celebrate queer culture.
