Horst Festival kicks off this weekend—and once again, it’s completely sold out. No wonder: what other festival in Belgium blends boundary-pushing electronic music, radical art, stunning architecture, and queer-inclusive vibes with such effortless style?
From May 1 to 3, the iconic ASIAT site in Vilvoorde transforms into a utopian playground where music meets creativity at every turn. Now in its 11th edition, Horst has evolved from an intimate underground celebration into Belgium’s worst-kept secret, drawing a loyal, Europe-wide following. Originally held at the historic Horst Castle near Leuven, the festival relocated to ASIAT park—an industrial site with warehouses, murals, and even a looming disused cooling tower that gives it a truly otherworldly vibe.
Horst isn’t just a music festival: it’s a full experience. Architecture plays a central role, with striking stage designs that elevate the warehouse party to a work of art. It’s a place where community, queerness, experimentation, and openness aren’t just welcomed—they’re built into the DNA of the event.
This year’s lineup is packed with 115 artists, spotlighting both local legends and international heavy-hitters. Expect genre-defying sets from: Four Tet (Kieran Hebden) – Thursday’s standout act, Erol Alkan, Job Jobse, Lefto Early Bird (Brussels’ own), Palms Trax, Sedef Adasi, HAAi, Vladimir Ivkovic, Carista, Simo Cell, Coco Cobra, and many more.
This edition also shines a light on sounds and club cultures from around the world that have been less visible in Belgium. Highlights include Makadsi’s fusion of Arabic and North American sounds, and Gyrofield’s deep dive into Hong Kong’s IDM scene.
Horst continues to collaborate with Brussels’ Kiosk Radio and New York’s Lot Radio, keeping the underground spirit alive even as the festival grows bigger each year.
