Platine Summer Residency: Four Weeks of Food, Sound and Art Under One Molenbeek Roof

This summer, Brussels collective Platine turns LaVallée into a full‑on playground where food, music and contemporary art live together for four weeks. From 15 July to 9 August 2026, the space becomes a restaurant, wine bar, club, workshop hub and exhibition all at once, with a different chef each week, nightly club programmes and daily workshops. For queer and allied audiences who love hybrid spaces rather than single‑use venues, this residency is basically a long, slow festival spread across a month.

A total experience: table, terrace, club, gallery

Platine is known for blending club culture, gastronomy and visual art into one continuous experience: you arrive for dinner or natural wine, drift into the Music Terrace in LaVallée’s courtyard, then end up in the club or at an exhibition without ever really “changing venues”.

For the Platine Summer Residency, the collective takes over the entire site — restaurant, courtyard, club and exhibition spaces — and expands it into a daily platform for young chefs, DJs, artists and workshop facilitators. Each night follows a clear rhythm:

• food first: a resident chef each week, with menus built around sharing, bold flavours and stories
• music and art throughout: live radio, DJ sets, installations and performances
• club after: curated nights that start after dinner and run deep into the night.

The atmosphere Platine is aiming for is inclusive, warm and community‑driven: a space that starts as a social gathering and gradually turns into a night of dancing, where people can stay seated, move, flirt, listen or create without feeling pushed into one specific mode.

Week by week: chefs, club nights, terrace

Week 2 — 21 to 26 July

Week 2 starts with National Holiday: Open Air on Tuesday 21 July, a daytime celebration from 12:00 to 22:00 with Belgian‑inspired food by chef Cloes and an all‑Belgian line‑up: Lefto Early Bird, Walt.ur, San.Andreas (live), Cyvira, Hendrik Bleus.

From Wednesday, the kitchen belongs to Sanaa’s Kitchen, founded by Egyptian‑born Hader in Amsterdam. The menu is built around authentic Egyptian home cooking, family recipes and Cairo‑style hospitality, using food as story and connection.

Key nights:

• Friday 24 July — Viciosa x XXXound: Brussels’ Latin collective XXXound joins Viciosa for a night where food and club merge. Doors open at 18:30 for a special dinner menu, free entry until 22:00, then the dancefloor takes over with Venus Melissa, Nicoba, RAQL, Vera Moro, Graciano until 04:00. Combo tickets cover both dinner and party; club‑only entry starts at 22:00.
• Saturday 25 July — Jennifur & Friends: curated by Jennifur, this series celebrates friendship, love, motivation and club culture. At LaVallée, it becomes a night that starts around the table and ends on the dancefloor, with a line‑up featuring Erykah, Shoplifter and Jerrau and warm, bass‑driven electronics. Three‑course dinner (€50, club entry included, limited to 50 seats) or club‑only entry (€10).

Week 3 — 29 July to 2 August

Week 3’s kitchen is in the hands of Nino Leurquin, a Brussels‑based chef with a graphic design background. His cooking is simple, seasonal and built for sharing, with a strong focus on local ingredients and thoughtful combinations, shaped by experience in renowned restaurants like La 203.

• Friday 31 July — Platine x Atelier Brumont [Release Party]: a calendar highlight around a release collaboration with Atelier Brumont, with full line‑up announced via @platine.bxl.

Week 4 — 5 to 9 August

The residency closes with Yasmine Hamdaoui in the kitchen. Her work is driven by a love of vegetables, seasonality and bringing people together; expect fresh herbs, bold flavours and generous plates built on the idea that food is a powerful language of culture.

Key nights:

• Friday 7 August — Love Doctors x R&B afterhours: an evening shaped like an R&B‑flavoured afterhours, with a speed dating format for those who want to meet someone new between dances.
• Saturday 8 August — Domme Jongens x Nachtwinkel: a closing‑week club night with line‑up to be confirmed.

Across all weeks, the Music Terrace in LaVallée’s courtyard runs as the residency’s daily heart: live radio curation by Microwave, natural wine from GRRRABUGE, design by Club Dérive, and a space meant for spontaneous encounters between people who might have come “just for a glass” but stay for the sound.

Art and workshops: depth beyond the dancefloor

Art is not a side note. The central visual piece is a new, site‑specific installation by Simon Boulez & Hanne Deswert, whose immersive practice turns part of LaVallée into a place for movement, interaction and shared experience. Its vernissage happens on Wednesday 22 July. Around it, an evolving exhibition shows work by: Stan Vrebos, Elvy Tremor (Valentine Jolibois & Léonore Bienert), Emmanuel Silva, Giulia Baldissera, Valentine Hanin, Raphael Ikiyaga, Charlotte Daniëlse, Jeremy Grignard and Dulce Fernandez Kerr.

Alongside the table and the dancefloor, the residency offers workshops every Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday: pilates with Valerie Wouters, Deep House x Yoga with Aurélie Boutefeu, torso wigs with Tom Grbic, trance as technique with Julia E. Dyck, journalism with Marie Loosen, poetry and open mic with Anna Verbeeck, “Bruxelles sans tel” / “Brussels offline”, writing playground sessions, ceramics, sound‑guided meditations, nightlife photography, listening as archive, slow‑living practices and more. The idea is simple: give people daily ways to move, learn, make and reflect, not just consume.

For queer and allied communities, this combination matters. It offers spaces to take care of the body, explore creativity, talk about nightlife from inside, and disconnect from phones for a while — all within a context that already feels familiar through music and food.

Why Platine’s residency matters for LGBTQIA+ communities

Platine’s approach speaks directly to LGBTQIA+ people who are tired of fragmented experiences: dinner in one place, culture in another, clubbing somewhere else, each with different norms about how to move, dress, show affection or be weird. Here, the intersection is the concept:
