Bears Attack: Brussels’ Bear Folies Hit the Dancefloor

Belgium Bear Pride celebrates its 15th anniversary from 29 September to 4 October 2026, and Saturday night comes with an official afterparty. On 3 October, CAVE invites Amsterdam’s Bear-Necessity to Barrio in Brussels for Bears Attack: a night of electronic music, playful surprises and room for every body. It follows the Mr Bear Belgium selection and keeps this year’s “Bear Folies” celebration moving until morning.

Fifteen years of Bear Folies

For its anniversary edition, Belgium Bear Pride has chosen a theme that refuses to put masculinity in one box. “Bear Folies” makes space for leather and sequins, strength and softness, beards and heels. It celebrates the people who have built a bear community in Brussels over fifteen years—and the many ways that community can keep growing.

On Saturday 3 October, the Mr Bear Belgium selection takes place at Veau de Ville Théâtre. Afterwards, the celebration moves to Barrio, where CAVE hosts the official afterparty. The shift from stage to dancefloor feels right for a Pride programme that is as much about being together as it is about being seen.

Three DJs, one long night

Bears Attack brings together three DJs with distinct approaches to keeping a room in motion.

• BE-RIK, a familiar face at Bear-Necessity Amsterdam, builds energetic sets around driving techno, basslines, grooves and vocals.
• BALIBREA, based in Ibiza, moves between house, tech house and techno, adjusting his sound to the crowd in front of him.
• THOMAS M, CAVE’s resident DJ and co-founder, brings the night home with the Brussels party’s music-first spirit.

There is a less predictable visitor on the dancefloor, too. CAVE’s returning Teddy Bear Battle sends teddy bears through the crowd; catch one and it is yours to take home. It is a playful detail in a night built for connection, not just spectacle.

A dancefloor for every body

Bear spaces can offer something powerful: a place to celebrate bodies and expressions of masculinity that do not always fit mainstream expectations. CAVE makes its invitation wider still. Bears, cubs, otters, admirers and everyone in between are welcome, whatever their size, age, gender identity or expression. The organisers explicitly put respect, consent and freedom from judgement at the centre of the night.

That matters for LGBTQIA+ nightlife today. Representation is not only about who appears on a poster; it is also about who can walk through the door without feeling they need to change their body or perform a particular version of queerness to belong.
