been, who we’ve loved, and the version of ourselves we want the world to

At KET, we believe fragrance carries the same essence as queerness: fluid, layered,
and unapologetically personal. It refuses to be boxed by gender or convention,
moving instead with emotion and intent. During Paris Perfume Week, we’re exploring
this intersection of scent and self — celebrating fragrances that go beyond beauty to
become acts of affirmation.

This year, KET Magazine was invited to be part of Paris Perfume Week — a
celebration of olfactory artistry hosted at the majestic Palais Brongniart, right in the
heart of Paris. From April 9 to 11, 2026, the historic halls were filled with the hum of
creativity, as independent perfumers and established niche houses came together to
share their latest creations. The air itself seemed alive — saturated with stories told
through scent, from smoky woods evoking late-night confessions to citrus bursts
capturing the energy of a first kiss. Each booth was an encounter, each fragrance a
window into a maker’s world, reminding us that perfume is not only about how we
smell, but how we choose to feel and be remembered.
Immersed in this fragrant universe, the KET team took its time — slowly moving from
stand to stand, striking up conversations with passionate creators and brand
representatives. Each encounter felt like peeling back a new layer of identity, as we
listened to how these perfumers craft emotion into every accord and bottle stories
that defy expectations. Beyond the marketing language of luxury, what resonated
with us most was the sincerity — the desire to make people feel seen, powerful, and
free through scent.
Among the many discoveries, three houses stood out to us for perfectly echoing the
KET philosophy: rejecting gender boundaries, embracing playfulness, and finding
confidence in authentic self-expression. Their work reminds us that fragrance, like
queerness, isn’t something to hide or tame — it’s something to unleash.

- L’Orchestre Parfum
L’Orchestre Parfum immediately stood out to us for the way it treats scent as
something alive, emotional, and deeply artistic . The house was born from an idea as
simple as it is beautiful: music and perfume can stir memory in the same way,
moving through the air, disappearing, and leaving behind a feeling that lingers . By
exploring the “odeur de la musique” with artisans and perfumers, the brand creates
what it calls “fragrances augmented” — compositions that invite you to both smell
and hear the world differently.
What also resonated with KET is the brand’s sense of responsibility: its fragrances
are made in France, are 100% vegan, and use a natural French beetroot alcohol .
That combination of creativity and commitment gives L’Orchestre Parfum a strong
place in our selection, especially for readers who see fragrance not as decoration,
but as a form of expression that can carry emotion, freedom, and purpose.

Stereotype was the kind of brand that made immediate sense in a KET context,
because its whole universe is built around self-expression and the refusal of fixed
labels. The house presents itself as a French niche perfumery brand that turns
beauty inside out, challenges standard dimensions, and invites people to “discover
your dimension” rather than fit into one. Its debut collection is explicitly framed
around the many ways people feel, perceive, and interact with the world, which
aligns closely with our own belief that scent can be a tool for freedom, confidence,
and self-definition.
What we especially loved is how Stereotype pushes back against the clichés that still
shape perfumery, replacing them with a more open, fluid language of identity. In the
brand’s world, fragrance is not about conforming to a gendered code, but about
stepping into your own energy and letting curiosity lead the way. That makes it a
natural fit for KET’s selection: a brand that doesn’t ask who you are supposed to be,
only what version of yourself you want to reveal, from the models they chose to
portray their brand to their heavily skin centered scents.

Free Yourself closes our selection on a note that is both sensual and reflective, with
a philosophy rooted in emotional and spiritual growth. The brand sees fragrance as a
portal to self-discovery, inspired by positive psychology and by the idea that scent

makes it more than a perfume house: it becomes a space for transformation, where
wearing a scent is also a way of choosing a mood, a direction, a form of care.
We were also drawn to the brand’s clear commitment to gender-neutral fragrances,
natural and safe ingredients, cruelty-free production, and vegan-friendly values. Its
use of the four elements — Air, Eau, Feu, and Terre — gives the collection a poetic
framework that feels both grounded and expansive. For KET, Free Yourself captures
something essential: the idea that fragrance can help us return to ourselves, while
gently encouraging us to become more fully who we are.
