Chez Ginette: saying goodbye to Friday nights, not to the story

After 11 years of making Brussels dance every Friday, Chez Ginette has announced on its official Instagram account @chezginette.bxl that its legendary Friday parties will come to an end at the close of June. The last two editions are set for 19 and 26 June, giving regulars and newcomers a final chance to say goodbye to a weekly ritual that felt more like a habit and a home than “just” a night out.

In the post, Ginette thanks its crowd: “Thank you for these 11 years of seeing you dance, laugh, find each other, fall in love, lose yourselves a little too. You made my Fridays much more than parties: a habit, a family, memories that will stay. De leste es de beste. Ginette.” It’s a love letter to a chosen family, to all those who turned a corner bar into a place of encounters, crushes, breakups, reunions and slightly chaotic, very Brussels nights.

The story, however, doesn’t stop here. Ginette already hints at future projects “under other spotlights”, with events like GinetteOpenAir and GinetteHalloween planned later this year. The weekly Fridays may be ending, but the Ginette universe is clearly getting ready to move, transform and find new ways – and new venues – to keep that very specific way of ending the week alive.
