Preserve History, Celebrate Love: Support the City of Brussels’ Initiative

In 2023, the City of Brussels is gearing up to commemorate a significant milestone: the 20th anniversary of the groundbreaking law legalizing same-sex marriage in Belgium. To ensure this momentous occasion is etched in the annals of history, the City’s Museums and Archives have launched an inspiring initiative. They are calling upon the community to contribute LGBTQIA+ archives centered around the theme of marriage. This noble undertaking aims to preserve the rich heritage of the LGBTQIA+ movement while shedding light on the transformative power of love and equality.

The Archives of the City of Brussels will leave no stone unturned in their quest to capture the essence of same-sex marriage through a diverse range of materials, including photographs, letters, diaries, articles, memorabilia, and more.
