From 24 to 28 June 2026, Various Voices Brussels 2026 will turn the capital into Europe’s biggest LGBTQI+ choir playground – and locals are invited not just to listen, but to host singers at home. Opening your spare room or sofa to a queer chorister is a simple, powerful way to support the festival, build new connections and show the world what a welcoming Brussels really looks like.
For five days, Brussels will welcome around 120 choirs and 4,000 singers from across Europe and beyond as part of Various Voices Brussels 2026, with concerts at Bozar, Cirque Royal, La Madeleine, ING Arena and in open‑air settings across the city. Hosted by local queer choir Sing Out Brussels! and supported by Legato, the European association of LGBTQI+ choirs, the festival is all about visibility, joy and solidarity through song. And because this is a community event as much as a cultural one, it also depends on something very concrete: where all these singers are going to sleep.
Instead of relying only on anonymous hotels, the festival is calling on people in and around Brussels to host choir members at home. The idea is simple: if you have a spare room, a comfy sofa or even a fold‑out bed you are happy to share for a few nights, you can register as a host and be matched with visitors according to your preferences. You don’t need to be part of a choir yourself or have a huge flat – just be ready to offer a safe, queer‑friendly space and a warm welcome. Breakfast chats, late‑night debriefs after concerts, tips about your favourite bars or swimming spots: all of that becomes part of the festival experience.

For many singers, especially those coming from regions where LGBTQI+ rights are under attack, staying with locals makes a huge difference. It turns a big international event into something intimate and grounded, where you can swap stories about Pride, activism, family and daily life over coffee rather than just passing each other in a hotel lobby. Hosting is also a way for Brussels‑based queers and allies who may not be able to volunteer full‑time or attend every concert to still play a crucial role. Your living room becomes a micro‑embassy of the city’s queer community – messy, cosy, real.

If you want to dive even deeper into the music, the festival’s flagship show “Let Your Heart Be Heard” will bring together choirs and queer artists for a massive anthem night at ING Arena, built around the festival’s original song of the same name. Ahead of June, a participatory project invites Brussels residents to learn the anthem and join rehearsals at Bozar, with the goal of forming the biggest choir the city has ever seen. You can host singers, sing with them, or both – there is no rule that says your guest has to be the only one performing.

Brussels itself is more than just a backdrop here. As the seat of EU institutions and a country regularly ranked among the most progressive in Europe on LGBTQ+ rights, Belgium sends a strong signal by welcoming an event of this scale. Offering your home to visiting singers is a very tangible way to turn that abstract reputation into lived hospitality: opening the city, building networks that will last beyond the festival, and reminding ourselves that queer solidarity is something we do, not just something we post about.
