Arkane Takes 200 Rock Voices Across Belgium, With Alice on the Roof at AB

From Marche-en-Famenne to Brussels

Two hundred voices, a live band and a setlist ranging from Muse to Iron Maiden: Arkane, the rock choir created by non-profit organisation Sing for the Moment, is setting off on a six-date tour across Wallonia and Brussels. The final show takes place at Ancienne Belgique on 28 November, with Alice on the Roof joining the choir on stage.

They work, study, raise children and manage busy schedules. Yet, for months, around 200 choristers have been meeting regularly with one shared ambition: to make rock music resonate in a different way. On 19 September, at the WEX in Marche-en-Famenne, Arkane will launch its 2026 tour before travelling to Liège, Namur, Mons, Court-Saint-Étienne and Brussels.

Behind the project is Emeline Burnotte, founder of Sing for the Moment and the ensemble’s musical director. A former biology teacher who retrained as a choir conductor, she brings amateur singers together around a repertoire not usually associated with choral music — and prepares them to take on major stages.

“They are not professionals. They are people with jobs, children and impossible schedules, who still come to rehearse every week to sing Iron Maiden together, with all their heart. That is Arkane,” says Emeline Burnotte.

A choir beyond clichés

Arkane is not a conventional choir simply performing a few familiar hits. The project combines the force of 200 voices, the energy of a live band and a staged performance originally conceived by Simon Paco, now directed by Sophie Weynant.

On stage, the choir is joined by François Capelle on bass, Emeline Podgornik on drums, Adrien Larock on keyboards, and Jean-Bertrand Sellom and Greg Hallet on guitars.

The repertoire spans several generations and shades of rock, including Muse, Imagine Dragons, AC/DC, Nightwish, Shaka Ponk, Placebo, Evanescence, System of a Down and Iron Maiden, alongside further songs to be discovered. A chorus usually carried by one singer becomes a collective surge when 200 people take it on at once. AC/DC riffs, Evanescence crescendos and System of a Down’s intensity gain an entirely different scale through massed voices.

Alice on the Roof joins the finale

The tour will close on Friday 28 November at Ancienne Belgique in Brussels. For this final date, Arkane will welcome Alice on the Roof, the project’s patron. The Belgian artist will join the choir to perform two of her own songs, in a collaboration created exclusively for the Brussels show.

The evening at AB will bring together Alice on the Roof’s sensitive pop universe and the collective power of a rock choir determined to blur the lines between amateur practice and the big stage.
