In a powerful rebuke to the administration’s anti-trans actions, 15 state Attorneys General have united to protect gender-affirming care for trans youth. Representing California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wisconsin, the coalition condemned the recent executive order restricting care for individuals under 19—calling it “wrong on the science and the law.”

Their statement declares that gender-affirming care is essential, lifesaving medical treatment that supports trans youth in living as their authentic selves. Emphasizing there is no link between this care and practices like female genital mutilation, the AGs affirmed that federal funding for such treatments remains unaffected, despite misguided attempts to curtail it.
In these challenging times, this united legal stand offers hope and reassurance. It underscores the critical role of robust legal advocacy in defending fundamental rights and ensuring that trans youth receive the care they deserve. As the fight for equality intensifies, this coalition’s resolve shines as a beacon, reminding us that progress and protection are still within reach.
