Bi+ Equal is the first-ever bi+ structure at the European level, a new platform created to connect, strengthen and amplify bi+ communities and initiatives across the continent. Funded for two years by the European Commission, it aims to put bi, pan and bi+ people at the centre of conversations where they have long been sidelined, both in institutions and within LGBTQIA+ movements.

A European Home for Bi+ Communities
Bi+ Equal was born from the collective work of Dutch and French organisations Bi+ Nederland and Spectrum, who joined forces to respond to the lack of a dedicated European structure for bi+ realities. The project’s ambition is to build a European organisation for and by bi/pan/bi+ people, capable of linking local collectives, national groups and individual activists.
Through this platform, bi+ initiatives can finally find a common space to share experiences, organise campaigns and speak with a stronger, united voice at the European level. To discover the project, its partners and upcoming activities, visit: www.biplusequal.org.
Making Bi+ Issues Visible
At the heart of Bi+ Equal lies a clear diagnosis: bi+ people remain underrepresented and misunderstood, even within LGBTQIA+ spaces. Issues such as mental health, bi-erasure, specific forms of discrimination and the needs of people who move between different gendered spaces are too often invisible in public policies and community agendas.
The platform is currently conducting an in-depth study on the experiences, challenges and needs of bi+ people across Europe, with the goal of producing concrete data that can support advocacy, training and policy change. More information on the project’s vision and research can be found on the “About us” page: https://www.biplusequal.org/about-us.
Built Collectively by Bi+ People
One key strength of Bi+ Equal is its collective design: its structure, missions and way of working are meant to be defined together with those who join the process. Rather than arriving as a finished organisation, the platform invites bi+, pan and bi+ communities to co-create a future European entity that reflects their realities, identities and priorities.
This participatory approach ensures that people with different genders, backgrounds, racial identities, abilities and migration stories can help shape a space that truly belongs to them. Bi+ Equal positions itself as both a network and a political tool to defend bi+ rights and victories across Europe.
Three Main Objectives
The project is structured around three major goals that respond directly to existing gaps.
Strengthen skills and exchanges: offering training, peer-learning opportuni
Map and understand bi+ needs in Europe: documenting who is doing what, where, and which needs remain unmet, from community building to health care and legal protection.
