As Brussels prepares to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Brussels Pride on Saturday 16 May, the city is also building up the week with community-led events that turn visibility into action. One of the most practical and political is an Atelier Pancartes organised by Tels Quels and the Bibliothèque des Riches Claires on Wednesday 6 May from 15:30, where Pride marchers can make their own placards ahead of the big day.

The idea is simple: if you want to walk and make a point, come create your sign with the material provided on site, no registration needed. It is a very Brussels kind of Pride gesture — part activism, part collective craft, and fully committed to queer visibility.

Why it matters
This year’s Pride takes place under the slogan “When Times Get Darker, We Shine Brighter”, with the march and Pride Village set to draw tens of thousands of people into the centre of the capital.
The workshop at Riches Claires fits that broader energy: Pride is not only about showing up on 16 May, but also about preparing the message, the slogans, and the political presence that will fill the streets.
