Brussels just got itself a new queer‑friendly meeting point in the clouds. From 15 May to 28 September, the Bozar Rooftop returns on top of the Palais des Beaux‑Arts, with a full season of concerts, DJ sets, talks, screenings and chilled sunsets curated by Pali Pali. Think of it as a suspended public square above Ravenstein, where you can grab a drink, listen to local collectives and watch the city glow all the way to Koekelberg.
Last year, the rooftop already attracted around 6,000 visitors and 150 artists and collectives over three months. In 2026, the team is levelling up: more days, more events, and a scenography that turns the flat roof into a hanging garden.
A 100% Belgian, 100% rooftop programme
Bozar Rooftop 2026 is open non‑stop from 15 May to 28 September, Wednesday to Sunday, 16:00–23:00. Access to the rooftop remains free, with a solidarity‑priced bar and a diverse food offer so you can stay for one drink or a whole night.
The programme is proudly 100% Belgian, bringing together collectives and artists from Brussels, Ghent, Antwerp, Liège and beyond. Expect a mix of:
- concerts across jazz, soul, pop, electro, rock, Latino and R&B
- DJ sets and mini‑festivals
- talks, stand‑up, debates and thematic evenings
- workshops, family‑friendly afternoons and kids’ events, depending on the day.
It’s the kind of place where you can go for a chilled after‑work with friends, stumble into a feminist or queer night programmed by local collectives, or land in the middle of a film screening you didn’t know you needed.
A “Forest in the Sky” above Ravenstein
This year’s scenography theme is “La Forêt dans le Ciel” – Forest in the Sky. The idea is to transform Bozar’s dry, mineral rooftop into a suspended, living landscape, with greenery, structures and installations that soften the architecture and invite you to linger.
The setting builds on what has been developed over the past seasons: a terrace imagined originally by Victor Horta, restored and opened as a roof terrace with panoramic views over the Royal Palace, the Grand‑Place and the rest of the city. The result is a place that feels halfway between urban lookout and summer festival – but accessible in just a few escalators from Gare Centrale.
The rooftop is also accessible to people with reduced mobility via a dedicated lift, with Bozar asking visitors who need assistance to announce their visit in advance.
A queer‑friendly summer spot in the heart of the city
For Ket’s readers, Bozar Rooftop sits in a sweet spot. It’s not a “gay bar” as such, but the programming has consistently welcomed feminist, queer and activist collectives, including community radios, performance crews and DJs who bring a distinctly LGBTQIA+ energy to the terrace. Add to that the location – a few minutes’ walk from the Rainbow Village and the Mont des Arts Pride Village zone – and you get an ideal place to start or end a night out.
In Pride season, the timing is even better. Opening in mid‑May, the rooftop is perfectly positioned to become the after‑march chill spot, the place where you land between a Pride talk, a drag show and a club night. It’s also the kind of space where you can bring mixed groups – queers, allies, colleagues, visiting family – without having to negotiate the usual “but is it too much for them?” questions.
