On Saturday 13 June 2026, Play Label Open Air lands at Place du Congrès in the heart of Brussels for a full‑scale outdoor session, with The Blessed Madonna headlining for the very first time in the city centre. From 14:00 to 22:00, the esplanade overlooking the skyline becomes a one‑day rave spot, continuing the series of open‑air events that Play Label has been crafting across Brussels since 2008.
With its mix of concrete, monuments and open sky, Place du Congrès is an unlikely but perfect setting for daytime club culture: no ceiling, city views and the feeling of dancing in the middle of Brussels itself. As always, Play Label keeps tickets around the 20 euro mark, staying true to their commitment to accessible, high‑quality events for the local scene.
Who is The Blessed Madonna?
Born Marea Stamper, The Blessed Madonna is one of the most respected and beloved figures in contemporary dance music. Raised in Kentucky and later embedded in Chicago’s underground, she built her career from the late 1990s by selling mixtapes at raves, organising DIY parties and honing a reputation as a technically sharp, emotionally charged DJ. In 2016, Mixmag named her DJ of the Year, cementing her status as a defining force in house and techno.
Her sets and productions draw on house, techno, disco and soul, often with a strong sense of political and social awareness. As a queer artist deeply rooted in community, she has consistently used her platform to centre marginalised voices and defend club culture as a space of resistance and care. Beyond the booth, she founded the We Still Believe label and party series, and her remix work – including the acclaimed “Club Future Nostalgia” rework of Dua Lipa’s album – has reached a truly global audience.
In recent years, The Blessed Madonna has continued shaping the sound of contemporary house with her album Godspeed, a record that blends retro and futuristic club references, pop sensibilities and raw emotional energy. Her ability to tell stories through long, soaring DJ sets – shifting from euphoria to catharsis and back – is exactly what makes her such a perfect fit for an open‑air like this.
Play Label, Brussels and the open‑air ethic
Play Label has been crafting line‑ups and empowering the Belgian scene for more than a decade, from rooftop sessions to monumental urban locations. Their open‑air events are conceived as celebrations of Brussels itself: using city architecture as a backdrop, inviting both international names and local favourites, and insisting on strong, safe‑space values (no tolerance for racism, sexism, queerphobia or any other form of discrimination).
With The Blessed Madonna at Place du Congrès, the project reaches a new chapter: a major queer‑friendly club icon taking over a central Brussels square, under the sun and in full view of the city. It’s the kind of moment that sits exactly at the crossroads of what KET loves to highlight: music, public space and queer‑inclusive dancefloors.
If you needed a sign to block out your Saturday and head up to Congrès for a day of dancing with community, this might just be it.
